LEADERSHIP

DUNCAN WRIGHT – CEO/VP

Duncan Wright has been representing taxpayers in front of the IRS since 2004, the year he became a licensed Enrolled Agent. Two years later, he and his brother Michael opened PFGTAX in Boulder County, Colorado, where Duncan now serves as CEO.

A CU Boulder graduate with a degree in philosophy and history, Duncan brings a close-reading, build-the-argument approach to a case. He does not take the IRS’s opening position as the final word. That approach has carried him through more than 10,000 cases over the life of the firm. PFGTAX, under his leadership, has managed over $800 million in tax debt for clients facing liens, levies, and wage garnishments.

Today, Duncan’s focus is case strategy. He decides, case by case, the approach PFGTAX’s Enrolled Agents should take on the files they are actively working. He has lived in Boulder County since 1995. He still runs the firm on the same operating principle it started with. Every client gets a written plan: what the IRS is doing, what PFGTAX is doing, and what comes next.

MICHAEL WRIGHT –  PRES/CFO

As CFO, Michael Wright runs the financial side of PFGTAX. He co-founded the tax resolution firm with his brother, Duncan, in 2006. Michael relocated to Boulder County in 1995 and later earned a finance degree at the University of Colorado. That training suits the role he holds today.

Michael has also kept working cases directly. He is a licensed IRS Enrolled Agent, credentialed since 2004, and has personally handled more than 3,500 cases. Add in the rest of the firm’s Enrolled Agents, and PFGTAX has resolved tax liability for over 10,000 clients. That total covers every case the firm has closed since 2006.

Michael’s role is a dual one: part financial officer, part practicing Enrolled Agent. That combination gives him a view of the firm from both ends, the books and the caseload. It shapes how PFGTAX budgets, staffs, and grows.

PAUL MARTINEZ – DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER ACQUISITION

Paul Martinez was born and raised in Arvada, Colorado, and he is proud to call himself a Colorado native. He spent the first half of his career as a tile installer. He worked his way up to master tile installer, supervising crews on large residential, government, and commercial projects. Not all of it was floors and bathroom walls. Paul also did scaffolding work, setting tile vertically on the outside of buildings. He liked the physical work, but the conversations with general contractors, foremen, and business owners were what stayed with him. That eventually led him to PFGTAX.

That trade background gave him a real understanding of what it takes to run a trade business. He knows plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry from the inside. He has seen how a slow month or a payroll misstep can rattle an entire operation. Paul joined PFGTAX 12 years ago and now serves as Director of Customer Acquisition, where that firsthand experience still shows. He talks with plenty of trade business owners about their tax situations. In those conversations, he is someone who has actually run a trade business himself. Payroll and income decide whether a business comes through a resolution intact, and Paul makes sure the strategy accounts for it from the start.

Paul’s two kids are both boxers, and he spends a lot of time at the gym with them. When elk season opens, he heads to his family’s land south of Denver to hunt.

MITCH JAEGII  – DIRECTOR OF CLIENT SERVICES

Mitchell Jaeggi joined PFGTAX in 2014. He has been a licensed Enrolled Agent for more than eight years, federally authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS. Today, he serves as Director of Client Services.

As Director, Mitchell manages all of PFGTAX’s associates and paralegals. He also personally runs most of the firm’s higher-dollar, more complex cases. His own caseload centers on individuals and businesses facing significant federal tax liabilities. Those are the cases where the stakes are large enough to call for his direct oversight.

Mitchell also oversees the day-to-day communication between clients and their case team. That means a client always knows where their file stands and who is handling it next.

CARLA GALLEGOS – DIRECTOR OF TAX PREPARATION AND BOOKKEEPING

Carla Gallegos is Director of Tax Preparation and Bookkeeping at PFGTAX. The IRS has licensed her as an Enrolled Agent for more than 15 years. She also brings more than 18 years of overall experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and taxpayer representation.

Carla works both sides of a tax problem. She prepares and reviews the numbers, and she represents clients directly in front of the IRS. Her caseload runs from unfiled returns and payroll tax compliance to full collection actions. That includes installment agreements, penalty relief, Currently Not Collectible status, and Offers in Compromise. On the business side, she also handles Trust Fund Recovery Penalty cases. That is when the IRS looks to hold an individual personally responsible for a company’s unpaid payroll taxes.

Before recommending a resolution, Carla pulls the IRS transcripts and reviews the client’s full financial picture. From there, she walks through what the client owes, why, and which options actually fit those numbers.

Outside PFGTAX, Carla spends her time with family and stays involved in mentorship and education work in the community.
